OVERVIEW:
The prevalence of mental health issues is growing rapidly in the construction industry, especially in organizations that fail to prioritize the well-being of their workers. In fact, construction workers have one of the highest suicide rates compared to other industries, four times higher than the general population. Long work hours with high-performance standards, remote work locations, and seasonal layoffs are among the factors that put construction workers at risk of mental health issues that lead to suicide. It is now more important than ever for leaders to prioritize the safety of workers’ mental well-being by providing training, support, and resources.
